Houghton Lake is the largest inland lake in the state, encompasing over 22,000 funfulled acres of water. Water activities include swimming, boating, water skiing, and great fishing. Fish include walleye, pike, bass, and panfish.

Houghton Lake is also the home of Tip-Up-Town U.S.A., the largest winter festival in Michigan (held the last 2 weekends in January). Other winter activities include snowmobiling, cross country skiing, hunting and ice fishing. Downhill skiing is just a short drive away.
